Cascade

Dual Purpose

Cascade was developed by the USDA program at Oregon State University from English Fuggle and a male descended from the Russian variety Serebrianka, then released in 1972. Cascade is primarily valued as an aroma hop, with late and finishing additions preserving its most distinctive character.

Variety Details

Cascade delivers the now-classic American combination of grapefruit, floral character and pine resin, sometimes with spice. Its moderate alpha level makes it a flexible flavor-and-aroma hop with enough bitterness for balanced recipes. It remains a natural fit for American pale ale, IPA, amber ale, porter and hop-forward lager.

Beers and Pellets were evaluated using our Sensory Plus™ Trained Panel. Beers were dry hopped in a standard 2-Row Pale Ale at 2lb/barrel for 72 hours.
