Time to see and be seen at the CBC
We’ll be enjoying “What’s Brewing in Philadelphia?” Brewery Tours, State-of-the- Industry talks, and a key note address by Billy Bean of Moneyball fame.
It’s almost May and just about everyone in the craft industry is looking forward to the upcoming Craft Brewers Conference (CBC) taking place in Philadelphia, PA, May 3–6. As one of the most popular events serving the craft beer community, CBC has continued to grow year after year. They’re expecting more than 12,000 attendees at this year’s conference, so it’s sure to be a busy and exciting show.
Never ones to miss out on the fun, the team from Haas will be exhibiting at Booth 1527 along with an eclectic group of more than 800 breweries and brewing-related companies. We’ll be enjoying “What’s Brewing in Philadelphia?” Brewery Tours, State-of-the- Industry talks, and a key note address by Billy Bean of Moneyball fame. Billy popularized the used of statistical analysis to help the Oakland A’s out-compete clubs with much larger payrolls—a theme that will surely appeal to the smart and scrappy craft brewers out there.
We hope you’ll have a chance to swing by Booth 1527 where Haas will be featuring a great line-up of our own. Our brewmaster, Virgil McDonald, will be putting a few of our best hops on stage with some fun experimental beers straight from the Haas Innovations Brewery in Yakima. You can try Basco’s Brew (brewed with the soon-to-be-named HBC 291 cultivar), along with Pineapple Xpress (Citra® & Bru-1), Serendipity (Citra® & Mosaic®) Synchronicity (HBC 472 & HBC 438) and Pinesaurus Rex (Vic Secret™ & HBC 431). And, of course, the Haas team will be on hand to answer your questions, talk shop and share a beer or two.
We are teaming up with Victory Brewing, Tuesday May 3rd at Strangelove’s bar and restaurant in Philly to showcase brews inspired by some of our favorite Australian hops. It’s part of a collaboration with Victory by our Haas affiliate Hop Products Australia (HPA). The Aussie tap takeover kicks off at 6 p.m. at 216 S. 11th Street (between Walnut and Locust) in the city center.
Later in the week, we’re honored to once again be sponsoring the World Beer Cup Awards—a bi-annual competition that helps increase consumer awareness of great beer and celebrates brewing excellence. At the CBC, more than 2,000 breweries representing 63 countries are up for consideration in more than 90 different categories. It’s a huge honor to win, and a great opportunity for everyone to see the standouts and rising stars in the world of craft beer.
