Variety Details

Citra produces intense citrus and sweet-fruit character—commonly grapefruit, lime, orange, mango and tropical fruit—with softer floral notes. Its alpha level and oil concentration make it genuinely dual purpose, although its greatest impact usually comes from whirlpool and dry-hop use. It is foundational in modern pale ales and IPAs and also brightens wheat beer, lager and fruit-forward specialty styles.
Flavor wheel comparing Citra hops and beer aroma intensity, with citrus and sweet fruit as dominant notes.

Beers and Pellets were evaluated using our Sensory Plus™ Trained Panel. Beers were dry hopped in a standard 2-Row Pale Ale at 2lb/barrel for 72 hours.
