McKenzie

Aroma Hop

McKenzie C-148 was released in 2021 as the first variety from West Coast Hop Breeding Company and was bred specifically for Oregon's climate and agronomy. McKenzie is a dual-purpose hop, offering useful bittering potential along with meaningful flavor and aroma impact.

Variety Details

It brings grapefruit, lemon, nectarine and melon over pine, wood and thyme. Moderate alpha acids and substantial oil content make it a balanced dual-purpose hop, with late additions revealing its full regional character. It fits West Coast IPA and American pale ale particularly well and can add structure to fruit-forward hazy styles.

Beers and Pellets were evaluated using our Sensory Plus™ Trained Panel. Beers were dry hopped in a standard 2-Row Pale Ale at 2lb/barrel for 72 hours.
