Mount Hood

Aroma Hop

Mount Hood was developed by the USDA from Hallertau Mittelfrüh breeding material and released in 1989 as an American noble-style aroma hop. Mount Hood is primarily valued as an aroma hop, with late and finishing additions preserving its most distinctive character.

Variety Details

Mount Hood offers soft spice, herbs and citrus with floral, woody and lightly honeyed tones. Its low-to-moderate alpha acids favor late-kettle and finishing use, though it can provide smooth bitterness in delicately hopped beers. It is a reliable choice for lager, Kölsch, cream ale, wheat beer, bock and Belgian-style ale.

Beers and Pellets were evaluated using our Sensory Plus™ Trained Panel. Beers were dry hopped in a standard 2-Row Pale Ale at 2lb/barrel for 72 hours.
