Motueka™

Aroma Hop

Motueka was developed by New Zealand's hop breeding program from Saaz-derived material and was formerly known as Saaz B. Motueka is primarily valued as an aroma hop, with late and finishing additions preserving its most distinctive character.

Variety Details

Motueka expresses fresh lime and lemon, tropical and sweet fruit, herbs and a soft noble-like spice. Moderate alpha acids make it useful from the kettle through dry hopping, with late additions emphasizing its bright lime character. It excels in pilsner, Kölsch, saison, Belgian-style ale, pale ale and IPA.

Beers and Pellets were evaluated using our Sensory Plus™ Trained Panel. Beers were dry hopped in a standard 2-Row Pale Ale at 2lb/barrel for 72 hours.
