Mandarina Bavaria

Aroma Hop

Mandarina Bavaria 2007/018/013 was bred at Hüll from Cascade-related material and released in 2012 as a German flavor hop. Mandarina Bavaria is primarily valued as an aroma hop, with late and finishing additions preserving its most distinctive character.

Variety Details

The defining sensory character of Mandarina Bavaria is sweet tangerine and mandarin, complemented by citrus peel, sweet fruit, berry and light herbal or resinous notes. Moderate alpha acids make it flexible, but late-kettle, whirlpool and dry-hop additions preserve the clearest orange expression. It works in pale ales, IPAs, wheat beers, saisons and modern lagers that need bright citrus without excessive sharpness.

Beers and Pellets were evaluated using our Sensory Plus™ Trained Panel. Beers were dry hopped in a standard 2-Row Pale Ale at 2lb/barrel for 72 hours.
