Golding

Aroma Hop

U.S. Golding represents American-grown selections from the traditional English Golding family rather than a wholly separate modern breeding line. Golding is primarily valued as an aroma hop, with late and finishing additions preserving its most distinctive character.

Variety Details

Golding offers cream-caramel, floral and gentle spice with earthy, tea-like and softly woody qualities. Low alpha acids make it primarily a finishing and aroma hop, although it can provide traditional, rounded bitterness at larger kettle doses. It is well suited to English-style pale ale, bitter, mild, porter and stout, as well as Belgian-style beers and restrained lagers.

Beers and Pellets were evaluated using our Sensory Plus™ Trained Panel. Beers were dry hopped in a standard 2-Row Pale Ale at 2lb/barrel for 72 hours.
