Elixir

Aroma Hop

Elixir P 13-13 is a modern French variety developed in Alsace from the Comptoir Agricole breeding program, with cultivated and wild genetic material in its background. Elixir is primarily valued as an aroma hop, with late and finishing additions preserving its most distinctive character.

Variety Details

The sensory profile of Elixir is unusually deep, combining spice and citrus with red fruit, blackcurrant, cognac, tobacco, leather and woody notes. Moderate alpha acids support dual-purpose use, but measured late additions reveal its layered aroma without overwhelming the beer. It is particularly compelling in saison, Belgian-style ale, amber ale, porter, stout and barrel-inspired specialty beer.

Beers and Pellets were evaluated using our Sensory Plus™ Trained Panel. Beers were dry hopped in a standard 2-Row Pale Ale at 2lb/barrel for 72 hours.
