Extract Coordinator

John I. Haas is seeking for an Extract Coordinator and team-oriented individual to join our Manufacturing team. This position is responsible to administrate the daily operations of Extract work orders and to perform as administrative/office support to the CO2 Operations Manager.

Essential functions/majority of time spent:

  • Process extract work orders from Sales Admin which includes proofreading work orders for accuracy, and distribution of work orders to packaging. Ensure extract orders are processed to meet ship date on WO.
  • Prepare extract packing lists which includes ensuring that all attached labels are accurate, making sure pack samples have been sent to the lab for viscosity, oil, etc., and obtaining a plant ID for orders which require it. Get necessary analytical information (chromatograms and CofAs for IKE orders) from lab on extract orders. Email extract packing lists to Sales Admin. Once orders have shipped, file packing lists. Get samples ready for those orders that require them. Handle extract releases. Handle sales samples for FLEX and Incognito.
  • Coding and distribution of bills, code credit card purchases, maintain utilities usage spreadsheet for Scott H., Maintain documents for HAACP, CO2, and EMS. Complete the mail run daily and concur for maintenance by month end.

International Sales Administration Coordinator

John I. Haas is looking for a customer-service and team-oriented individual to join our Sales Administration team. This position is responsible for post-sales activities related to the proper execution of orders. Specifically, this includes: order fulfillment, customer service, contract management, and logistics and accounting coordination. This position provides support to our lead sales team through proposal preparation and acting as a liaison between them, our customers, and other internal departments to ensure timely and accurate accomplishment of order fulfillment and compliance with internal processes.
Essential functions/majority of time spent:
  • Coordinating order fulfillment for hops and hop products for domestic and international customers, including product quote development, production scheduling, shipping and invoicing initiation, and addressing customer complaints if any should arise.
  • Providing sales support to the corresponding lead sales (e.g., preparing offers, disseminating information to customers including appropriate information about company products and services, managing customer contracts and inventory, coordinating product samples, etc.). This may include client-related travel.
  • Providing best-in-industry customer service when responding to client needs, requests, questions, in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements/Conditions of employment:
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug test (including random drug tests in accordance with company program)
  • Must be able to work the scheduled 40 hour work week with occasional overtime (hours worked over 40 in the work week are paid at the standard overtime rate)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including ability to communicate in a courteous and tactful manner with co-workers and customers
  • Strong administrative, typing, computer and word processing skills (Microsoft Word and Excel). Experience with office equipment and general office procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a busy environment, including ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure

Preferred Qualifications:

Quality Assurance Manager

The person in this position is responsible for the development and implementation of all systems and programs related to quality control for the Haas Innovations Center and U.S. based laboratories. The Quality Assurance Manager assists in the development and maintenance of quality management systems/software (ISO, food safety, sustainability, business continuity, etc.) and provides analytical and technical support company-wide to ensure the quality of all products sold.

This position is crucial to successful operations and therefore requires a high degree of latitude and flexibility. Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Occasional night and weekend work, as well as travel, may be required, when special circumstances exist.

Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen (and random drug screens once employed).

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) schemes, i.e. SQF, BRC, FSSC, GLOBALG.A.P. and Good Manufacturing Practices (including hazard analysis, critical control points, and food safety quality)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience identifying the root cause of an issue to get beyond treating symptoms

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the hop industry
  • Advanced degree in a related field

R&D Director

John I. Haas has an exceptional opportunity for a creative and experienced R&D professional. This position reports to our VP of Innovations and is located in Yakima, WA. Responsible for R&D projects from idea to commercialization, conducting bench- pilot- and plant-scale trials as needed, preparing reports and leading meetings, and overseeing the R&D laboratory and pilot plant. The director also participates in customer calls, visits, tradeshows, and technical conferences. Key activities: designs/conducts scientific experiments and develops product prototypes while managing the R&D team.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A Ph.D. in Food Science/Technology, Organic Chemistry, or a related field
  • Ten years of experience in the food industry, including five years of managerial experience
  • Strong ethics/integrity, is customer-service driven, and passion for our work
  • Ability to interact with technical and non-technical teams
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and balance process and speed
  • Experience driving innovation and achieving results in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience developing new technology/innovations and commercializing new products
  • Experience prioritizing multiple projects and delegating work appropriately
  • Willingness run the laboratory-, pilot-, and plant-scale trials, when needed
  • Solid track record of successful new technology development, new product innovation, and commercialization of new products
