Brewing Solutions Director

Brewing Solutions Director will be responsible for managing team and directing various technical activities, including sales support and product commercialization, product management, external publications/presentations, and the development of technical literature. Will work with Haas customers on hop usage, process optimization, beer formulation, and sensory. Accompany the Haas sales representatives on customer visits to provide technical services, training, assisting with product development and identifying new commercial opportunities.
Essential functions/majority of time spent:
Provide guidance, tactical planning, and management to the Brewing Solutions program and team. Ensure proper alignment with the company goals.
Provide subject matter expertize and facilitate product commercialization and product management. Prepare and deliver external technical presentations and publications. Represent the Company at professional associations’ technical committees. Strategically participate in the industry conferences and tradeshows. Manage, oversee, and support customer-related technical activities during the customers’ visits; provide technical insight on products, applications, and solutions. Analyze complex situations and solve issues, address challenges, fill the needs, and exploit opportunities using Barth Haas Group’s products.
Proactively work with the customers directly or through his/her team – on hop usage, process optimization, beer formulation, and sensory evaluations.
Identify new commercial opportunities for existing and potential customers. Actively seek technical input for key decisions to support the innovations pipeline.
Requirements/conditions of employment:

Qualifications:
• PhD in chemistry or a related field.
• 10+ years of industry experience. Demonstrated understanding of hops and brewing, and ability to serve as a recognized expert internally and externally.
• Ability to effectively interact with technical/nontechnical teams internally and externally.
• Proven excellent writing and presentation skills. Ability to prepare reports, technical documentation, research articles, and business correspondence.
• Willing to roll up his/her sleeves and run brewing trials, when needed.
• Excellent experimental design, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and technical writing skills.
• Organizational skills, including ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple initiatives and deadlines autonomously, and shift the priorities as necessary.
• Track record of managerial responsibility and accountability, recognizing the value others bring to the organization.
• Flexibility and willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm.

Irrigation and Fertilization Specialists

The person in this position is responsible to support farm irrigation and fertilizer programs, soil moisture monitoring, and supervise assigned crews. From our farm fields to the glass, everything we do is to help brew great beer. This position is designed to help maximize the production of our farms.

Essential functions/majority of time spent on:
• Coordinate watering and fertigation schedules
• Integrate soil moisture monitoring, and current irrigation information to develop effective crop need-based irrigation methods
• Implement electronic water flow monitoring, timer based and/or radio valve controls
• Develop and maintain accurate electronic record-keeping
• Manage irrigation stations, suggest improvements to infrastructure, and lead implementation of improvements
Requirements/conditions of employment:

• Must be able to work the scheduled 40 hours workweek with overtime during the growing season.

Preferred qualifications:
• Associates degree or higher irrigation management and/or agronomy, or equivalent
• 2+ years fertigation/irrigation experience with drip system management
• Experience with irrigation management systems and software
• Able to supervise multiple work crews simultaneously
• Able to train employees in all phases of irrigation and fertigation of crops

QA Manager

The person in this position is responsible for the development and implementation of all systems and programs related to quality control for the Haas Innovations Center and U.S. based laboratories. The Quality Assurance Manager assists in the development and maintenance of quality management systems/software (ISO, food safety, sustainability, business continuity, etc.) and provides analytical and technical support company-wide to ensure the quality of all products sold.
This position is crucial to successful operations and therefore requires a high degree of latitude and flexibility. Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Occasional night and weekend work, as well as travel, may be required, when special circumstances exist.
Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen (and random drug screens once employed).
Required qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
· Supervisory experience
· Knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) schemes, i.e. SQF, BRC, FSSC, GLOBALG.A.P. and Good Manufacturing Practices (including hazard analysis, critical control points, and food safety quality)
· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
· Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.)
· Experience identifying the root cause of an issue to get beyond treating symptoms
Preferred qualifications:
· Experience in the hop industry
· Advanced degree in a related field
· Supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment
· Training in ISO Quality Management Systems

Supply Chain Specialist

Responsible for assisting VP Supply Chain Management in all aspects of procurement and inventory planning/management of all raw hops and hop products needed to meet customer requirements. Assist in design and execution of procurement, inventory position and trading strategies/plans to meet short and long-term supply chain management requirements.
Essential functions/majority of time spent on:
• Assist with oversight of inventory position management including supply/demand planning, trading strategy and optimization of inventory allocation for order fulfillment.
• Oversight of supply/demand planning for Advanced Products for both brewing and non-brewing products.
• Forecasting and Planning: Tracking of current and forward US acreage/volume projections, collaboration of such data.
Requirements/conditions of employment:
• Must be able to pass preemployment background check and drug tests.
• Must be able to work the schedule 40-hour workweek with potential overtime.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to prepare reports, technical documentation, research articles, and business correspondence.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member (people management skills) in a busy environment.
• On-the-job experience in production management and/or supply chain management, and a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field including time spent in a related part-time/internship position.
• Experience to managing, and/or exposure to, cost performance, supply/demand forecasting, and management of inventory/product cost performance across multiple product lines.
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience analyzing complex data to identify meaningful trends, correlation, causation, etc.
• Experience presenting complex data and findings to a variety of “audiences” either for informational purposes or to make a recommendation based on findings.
• Experience with related software (purchasing, ERP systems), and quality/continuous improvement initiatives.
